Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society

New for 2011

The Flatt triplets are coming to the Fair!  Earlier this year, Wayne Flatt was surprised with three identical calves born on his farm.  This was a VERY rare occurance.  It's one in 106,000 that a cow will have triplets but it is even more rare to have identical triplets!  Click here to learn more about the calves.  Don't miss your chance to meet these very special calves and talk to the farmers that are raising them.

Don't miss the Gypsy Vanners at the horse show this year.  Members of this breed are usually of pinto coloring and have many draft characteristics, including heavy bone and abundant feathering on the lower legs. They are smaller in stature than a regular draft horse but larger than a light horse.  Click here to learn more about the breed.  Don't miss your chance to meet them at the fair.

The theme for the fair and parade is "Any Theme from Disney on Parade."

The Emo Legion will be hosting a Beer Garden upstairs in the Arena on both Friday and Saturday beginning at noon each day.  Dinner from 4-7 pm.  Bring the family.

The Emo Legion will also be hosting a Jam Session during the fair this year.  Musicians are encouraged to participate upstairs in the arena from 4 pm to 10 pm on Friday.  There is no Karaoke so musicians are encouraged to bring their own equipment, mics, etc.  Of course, the public is welcome to sit in and enjoy the music!  For more information or if you would like to participate, please call Charlene at 483-5839 or 275-5539.

There will also be an Age of Majority Dance on Saturday upstairs in the Arena (admission is $5).  Music will be provided by Centre Line. Classic Rock 'N Roll, done with class.

There will be a Song Star Showcase of local talent on Friday and Saturday afternoons on the small stage (music by Joe Carlson of Yowza Music).  12 local singers from the Rainy River District will entertain us from 2 to 5 pm each day.  Click here for the line up.

Farm Progress Building (on the arena ice surface) is celebrating their 31st year.  Check out the booths for a chance to win fabulous prizes.

Borderland Racing is on both Friday and Saturday nights.  The races are sure to be exciting.

Passports will be available again this year.  You can pick up your passport at the information booth located across from the office on the main grounds.  The passports each have tickets to fill out and then you have to find the correct box located somewhere on the grounds and enter the draws.  The draws are held on Friday and Saturday at 8:30 pm at the grandstand during racing intermission.
